It sounds like you are talking about Dr. Daniel Jackson. He died many times during the series and I remember him being tied up by Vala (who likes him). If it helps, the actor who plays Daniel Jackson is Michael Shanks.
I thought I'd add this in so that you wouldn't get confused. There is a movie of Stargate where the actor, James Spader, plays Daniel Jackson. However, If you want to get something autographed it may be best to go with Michael Shanks as he is the Daniel Jackson in the series and the actor that played the character when all of the dying and being tied up and such happened.
