Star Trek Bird
ST:TNG - The Avian Factor (Funny!)
Star Trek Collectibles
My older brothers were big Star Trek enthusiasts. They were getting sci fi collectors' items before it was actually that acceptable to do. A lot of the kids I knew had some Star Trek collectibles when they were younger, however my brothers took it to another level. They had their own star trek phazors, figures, as well as outfits. One of them had a model of the Starship Enterprise, and the other had a Klingon Bird of Prey. They would always stage mock combats with these ships, incorporating whole storylines from the original series.
Being raised in this atmosphere, it was fairly easy to get taken up in the thrills. I wanted to become like my brothers, but they wouldn't always let me play with their Star Trek action figures.
That is why I acquired some Star Trek collectibles for myself as I was growing up. I began with the basic figures from the original series, then broadened my collection.
When I began getting into The Next Generation, my siblings weren't happy with me. They were Star Trek purists to the bone. It took them a long time to actually acknowledge the next generation, and even more time to grow to appreciate it. Yet, slowly but surely, it began to get them over.
Soon we're playing Star Trek games that transcended any particular collection. We would overlap figures from one show and another, having them cross time and space in imaginary epic adventures. It sure made for some great games of creativity.
I remember the very first Star Trek convention I went to like it was yesterday. I was about thirteen, and I was a little bit nervous about it. I had a lot of friends who did not know that I was a real major Trekkie, and I didn't feel quite right dressing up in full costume.
Even so, both of my siblings were dressing up, and I didn't plan to be the only person who wasn't. I wore a typical outfit, not trying to portray any character in particular. It was good enough to fit into.
In spite of my hesitation, I found myself having a blast while I was there. It was nice to be with many people who were as into Star Trek collectibles and the show like I was. I actually made a few friendships that have survived a while. I've been going to conventions since that time.

Frequently Asked Questions...
Star Trek 40th Anniversary Diecast Models?
Hello
I wonder if anyone can help? I bought a Star Trek 40th Anniversary Diecast model of the USS Enterprise D today. I want to collect of the models as it says on the box that there are also models of the Voyager, the Defiant, the original series Enterprise and a Klingon Bird of prey. In the shop they had the original Enterprise and the Klingon Bird of Prey but not the other two. I have not been able to find these anywhere on the Internet. Does anyone where I can find these? Is it just a case of them being sold out and not available? Any information would be appreciated! Thanks
Answer:
I believe you have one of the Corgi Die Cast ships. Early press releases from Nov. 2006 indicated that there would be a USS Defiant, Romulan Warbird and a USS Voyager, but there is no evidence that they have been produced.
The Corgi website only shows the Enterprise, the Enterprise-D, and the Klingon Bird of Prey. (Some of the styles are being discontinued.)
