The latest AVP videogame is out after several poor attempts at Alien, Predator and AVP titles, begging the question have developers Rebellion at last fashioned a videogame to fulfill the serious AVP followers?
The verdict in brief is yes. Launched for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC the fresh AVP videogame comprises three campaigns, permitting the player to play as the hunter, survivor or prey. Starting on the Colonial Marines missions, you begin as the rookie of the group on a small spacecraft that witnesses a large Predator vessel demolish your mothership. Of course the only option out there is for your vessel to dock on an unchartered planet.
The Diverse Campaigns And Aliens Offered Within The Latest AVP Videogame.
The following scene shows your character coming to after being knocked out during the deployment, and being informed by Tequila (closely resembling Vasquez from Aliens) that this job will become a "bug hunt". The subsequent few stages are only for the user to get to grips with the controls, which shall be familiar to most FPS gamers. Players will be warding off hordes of xenomorphs while waiting for an elevator to bring you to safety.
It's during this gameplay gamers will discover how impressive the lighting of the latest AVP videogame is; was that a vent falling off? or was it a xenomorph on the wall? The answer is that you just won't know until it might be too late! Lighting has been used to master effect in creating tense and uncertain gameplay. The weapons look and sound genuine to the Alien saga.
While the Marines mission is the closest to an FPS as possible on this AVP videogame, then the Aliens mission is the furthest away from that. The story opens with a xenomorph breeding laboratory with test specimens being harvested in aid of bioweapons research. But your Alien is different, as you decide to make your escape via your surrogate host's throat, this signifies you are a more intelligent species of Alien. An energy failure provides you the perfect chance to make your escape. Mission aims are given to you telepathically from the Alien Queen, and your character itself is a moving weapon, fitted with razor tipped tail. Alien play style favours stealth and shock assaults from the darkness, and it's the most versatile of the three.
The Predator mission is a mixture of the Marine and Alien campaigns. Being a Predator you rely closely on your superior weaponry and use of stealth to best your prey. The predator campaign in this AVP videogame is to find and retrieve the bodies of multiple "youngbloods"; Predators that have gone missing. The Predator is probably the most popular of the three campaigns in this AVP videogame, on account of all its weaponry and totally gruesome steath kills.
In all, the new AVP videogame will fulfill the hardcore followers as it remains faithful to both the Alien and Predator films. The graphics should have been improved slightly but the lighting and sound work far make up for any graphical problems. Combining these elements with an excellent multiplayer mode has created the best AVP videogame yet.
